To share your screen with audio in Linkside, choose your content in the browser’s share picker and enable its audio option if one is offered. Then play a short clip with your Linkside microphone muted and ask a guest to confirm they hear it.
Your voice and the shared content use separate audio controls. Turning on your mic doesn’t add sound to the screen share, and a moving picture alone doesn’t confirm that sound was included.
Start with a short sound check
Linkside recommends desktop Chrome or Edge for hosting. You and your guests need no accounts or downloads. For a video, music sample, or demo that you can open in a tab:
- Open the content you intend to share and choose a short part to test.
- Create a Linkside room and send the invite link to someone you trust.
- Select Start sharing. If the picker lists the tab containing your content, select it.
- Look for an audio checkbox or toggle for that selection. If one is offered, enable it before confirming the share.
- Keep your Linkside microphone muted, play the clip, and ask the guest to name a sound they hear.

Linkside mutes your own video preview. Use the guest’s confirmation to judge whether the shared audio is working.
Check the guest player before restarting
If the guest sees Tap to enable audio, ask them to select it. This retries playback of the share and voices. It cannot add sound that wasn’t captured in the first place.
If their player shows a speaker control, ask them to move its slider above zero or select Unmute display audio when shown. Here, “display audio” means sound from the shared content. This control adjusts that sound without changing voice volume. Linkside can remember a display-volume setting of zero, so check it even after reopening a room.
To find out which sound is missing, play the clip with your mic muted. Then pause it, turn on your Linkside mic, and say a sentence.

Linkside captures your microphone separately from your screen. Muting your Linkside mic stops its capture without stopping the shared-content audio. The screen-sharing permissions guide explains the separate permissions.
If the clip is still silent
Select Stop sharing, then Start sharing, and review the selection and audio option again. While the room remains active, you can do this without creating a new room or invite link. Linkside attempts to reconnect the new share to active guests; ask them to confirm both picture and sound afterward.
Each time you start sharing, Linkside asks for both picture and sound. It can still mark the share as active if the browser returns only video. The sound check matters because Linkside’s sharing status does not verify that audio was included.
Linkside makes the same capture request on Windows and macOS and has no additional system-audio switch. If a window or entire-screen selection offers no audio option, cancel it. If the content can run in a tab, try selecting that tab and check its audio options. Confirm the guest hears it before using that setup for your demo.
Where your screen and sound go
Linkside is peer-to-peer first: it tries to send video and audio directly between your browser and your guests’ browsers. If a direct connection fails, an encrypted TURN relay provides a fallback. Your media stays encrypted on both paths. Free rooms get a five-minute relay trial; a licence allows unlimited relay use.
Linkside does not record sessions, transcribe audio, or store session content. Choose what you want to share, then confirm one sound from the clip and one sentence from you before the demo begins.
