A client wants to understand why a result changed. The answer is visible in your dashboard, but so are navigation items, saved views, alerts, and perhaps work that belongs to someone else. A useful live review shows the client only the view they need and gives the numbers a clear order.
This is a practical workflow for a live client financial review. It is not compliance, legal, regulatory, SEC, or recordkeeping advice. Use your firm’s approved systems and policies for those decisions.

Prepare one review window
Build the review around the client’s question, not around every panel the dashboard can display. Write the question in plain language before the call: “What changed?” “Which items need a decision?” or “What should we check next?” Then prepare the smallest set of views that can answer it.
Open those views in a separate browser window. Keep your inbox, other client records, internal notes, and administration pages outside it. Before opening the room, check the visible filter state from top to bottom: client or entity, reporting period, comparison, and units or currency. If the dashboard shows when its data was refreshed, check that too.
A useful sequence is:
- Orientation: name the entity, report, period, comparison, and units visible on screen.
- Outcome: point to the total, variance, or status that prompted the review.
- Drivers: open one category or period breakdown at a time, while keeping its parent total in view when the dashboard allows it.
- Questions: stop changing filters while the client responds; state the current view again if the question changes scope.
- Next action: give each unresolved item an owner and name the next check to perform after the call.
Keep supporting documents ready but closed. If one becomes necessary, stop sharing, open the named file, and confirm its client and period before restarting capture.
Start the advisor screen share when the view is ready
Host from desktop Chrome or Edge, Linkside’s recommended setup. Create a Linkside room only after the dashboard is prepared, then send the invite through a client channel you already trust.
The client opens the link in a browser and joins without creating a Linkside account, downloading an app, or installing an extension. If you want to show them what that step looks like beforehand, the guest-access guide explains the room-scoped join flow.
When we built Linkside’s sharing action, we made capture a deliberate host step. Selecting Start sharing calls the browser’s screen-capture API; the browser requires you to choose a display surface. Linkside does not begin with your desktop already visible. Choose the narrowest surface that contains the review:
- Share one tab when the whole discussion stays in one dashboard tab.
- Share the client-only window when you need several prepared tabs.
- Share an entire screen only when the workflow genuinely crosses applications and that display has been cleared for the review.
The single-tab sharing guide looks more closely at that choice. Before you confirm, verify that the intended tab, window, or screen is selected in the picker. A narrow capture surface limits the frame; you still decide whether every visible row belongs in the review.
Guide the numbers instead of chasing the cursor
Give every view a short spoken label before discussing its numbers: “Entity: North division. Period: June. Comparison: actual versus budget. Units: thousands.” Name each transition before making it: “I am opening the monthly view to isolate the change.” After the view settles, repeat only the fields that changed and point to the relationship under review. Do not narrate every click.
Use one question at a time. If the client asks about a different period or category, say the change before applying it: “Switching from June to year to date; entity and units stay the same.” Once the new view appears, repeat the resulting filter state. If the conversation branches again, record the question for follow-up rather than opening a chain of unrelated pages.
End each section with one of three labels: decided, needs evidence, or follow-up. For the last two, name the owner and the next check. Put the durable note in the client system your firm already uses, not in the shared screen.
Stop before a private detour
If answering a question requires an internal note, another client’s record, an inbox, or an administrative page, stop sharing first. Prepare a new client-safe view, then select Start sharing again. Linkside lets you stop and restart screen capture without ending the room.
Do not drag another window across the captured surface or race past a private page. Say what is happening: “I am stopping the screen while I check an internal note.” When you return, identify the refreshed view and read its filters before continuing.
The same rule applies at the end. Stop sharing as soon as the visual review is complete, even if the conversation continues for another minute.
Be precise about the privacy boundary
Linkside tries to establish a direct browser-to-browser media path first. If the browsers cannot make that direct connection, Linkside can use an encrypted TURN relay. Your screen and audio remain encrypted in transit on either path.
Linkside does not record the session, transcribe the audio, or analyse the dashboard on screen. That boundary governs Linkside, not the viewer’s device. Treat anything you display as disclosed to that viewer. The no-recording guide explains why a service can promise not to record while an invited viewer can still make a copy.
Private media does not mean the connection leaves no operational traces. While the room is live, Linkside’s signaling service observes that the room exists, roughly when guests join, and how long the session lasts. If the relay is needed, it and Cloudflare’s edge can see routing and IP-level traffic, but not the encrypted screen or audio. Linkside does not retain those observations long-term or pair them with an account identity.
When the review is finished, end the room. Linkside rooms are temporary: they do not become a reusable meeting space, recording, transcript, or post-session content archive.
Keep the follow-up separate from the room
Send the client a concise follow-up through your normal approved workflow: the entity and period reviewed, the decisions made, each unresolved question, its owner, and the next check. Attach or retain anything only through the systems your firm has chosen for that purpose.
Close the client-only window after the follow-up is complete. For the next review, prepare a new window and a new Linkside room from a blank state.
